General information, interpretation of CSPT (college skills placement test) results, and scheduling are provided by trained professional staff and faculty members. A new student caseload approach to advising assists new students throughout the enrollment process:

1. At the initial advising appointment, the advisor interprets the placement scores (or previous college transcripts), helps define the student’s major, helps the student prepare financially, and introduces the student to related support services.
2. After the initial appointment, the advisor stays in contact with the student acting as a resource person until the first day of classes.
3. During the first semester, the student is assigned a faculty advisor according to his/her chosen program of study, who will assist in planning future educational goals and registration of courses until graduation.
